Will Believers Face the Final Anti-Christ? Insights from Scripture (Signs Pt 5)

Harpazo?

The day is coming when you will see what Daniel spoke of . . .” Matthew 24:15

There is a great deal of thought, opinion, and theory, concerning what is widely known as the 70th week of Daniel. What most scholars agree on is that the main character referenced in it is the final Anti-Christ. Why final? Because the word says that there will be many anti-Christs throughout history, that even the “spirit of anti-Christ is present in the world already.” Where there is some differences in timing and whether the church will see these things is the debate. However, we are going to read the word and see what it says. It is important at this time to remind us that this discussion and teaching that Yahoshua is having with His disciples is a private lesson, He was speaking to them about them.

So when YOU SEE, the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. And woe to the pregnant women and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.” Matthew 24:15-22

The 70th week of Daniel is the final seven year period known by eschatologists as the tribulation period. It is believed to be broken up into two equal parts, three and half years on either side of this event spoke of— “the abomination of desolation.” When the final Anti-Christ, steps into the Holy of Holies and declares himself to be God. Something satan has been trying to do since at least the beginning of human history, recoded in Genesis. We need to recognize that prior to this final Anti-Christ the Church is warned that there will be many false Messiah’s and false prophets. Some will even perform great signs and wonders. We are to be prepared NOT to follow them but especially this final one. For he too will perform many wonderful signs and there will be a great delusion or deception, that will fool MANY.

The teaching of those who believe in a pre-tribulation rapture would have you believe that the Church will not be present at this time. They believe that they will be raptured or caught up (harpazo is the Greek term being translated), to meet Yahoshua in the clouds and become spectators from afar of the tragic events unfolding on earth. However, it is clear that Yahoshua wasn’t teaching this at all. Let’s take a little time exploring some clues to get some understanding. Here are a few clues. Yahoshua said, “So when YOU SEE . . .” Who was He teaching? His disciples, the pre-tribulation crowd will say they were Jews, my rebuttal is simple, were they not Messianic Jews? Are Messianic Jews not worthy of the rapture? That should be enough but there is more.

The pre-tribulation crowd also will say that babies and children will be raptured. This is depicted in the movie Left Behind. However, again Yahoshua teaching His disciples says, “and woe to the pregnant women and for those who are nursing infants.” If the rapture takes children why are there nursing infants? Again, will it only be Jewish infants that remain? There is still another clue here in Yahoshua’s teaching to look at. “And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elects sake those days will be shortened.” Now who are the elect? The pre-tribulation crowd will say the elect is Israel, which they are not wrong but who are we? Gentiles, yes, but we are grafted into Israel. There is no longer, Jew or Greek . . .

Ephesians 1:5 says, “He predestined us for adoption through Yahoshua Messiah, according to the purpose of His will.” When a child is adopted, they take on the name and become one with the family. This is what Elohim does with us who have accepted Yahoshua as our Adonai. We are adopted and take on the name of the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Here is one more clue, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days . . . Then will appear in the heaven the sign of the Son of Man . . . They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds . . . And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect.” (Matthew 24:29-31). Read this alongside the passage the pre-tribulation crowd teach as the rapture verse in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. Sure does sound like the same event.

Why do i make so much of this point? i fear that the rapture teaching will lead to great harm. This fear comes into play when the things spoken of in Matthew 24 begin to unfold. It concerns the pre-tribulation crowd still being here. i fear if they are not ready to stand against the final Anti-Christ, they will end up standing with him. At the very least, they will not be in his way. There is coming a great deception, that if possible will fool the very elect. If i am wrong about the rapture, no harm is done. Trust me if there is something to be wrong about, i hope it would be this. Even so i prepared myself to endure. I readied my spirit to stand in the face of death. I will NOT deny my Adonai Yahoshua Messiah. However, if the pre-tribulation crowd is wrong, and i fear they are, are they spiritually ready to endure? Are they ready to deny the many false Christ’s and THE false christ to come? “See, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, ‘look, he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.” Matthew 24:25-26

Matthew 24:31 NLT— “And He will send out His angels with the mighty blast of a trumpet, and they will gather His chosen ones from all over the world — From the farthest ends of the earth and heaven.”

Even still Adonai come quickly, Maranatha!

Signs . . . Pt 3

Famines, Pestilences, and Earthquakes

“. . . And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:7

Much like wars, famines, disease, and earthquakes have been around since the fall of man. We could look at countless famines in Scripture, Egypt and the surrounding territories suffered a famine and if not for Joseph interpreting Pharaoh’s dream things would have been way worse. Plague’s, and diseases, have also been around, again we could find many examples of this within Scripture. Finally, earthquakes, i think one overlooked earthquake in Scripture is the one at Yahoshua’s death, in which the graves opened up (see Matthew 27:51-53).

So, again, like with wars we need to get some perspective. Once again Israel is the timepiece. With that our time stamp takes us to 1948. Everything before 1948 we can put in the category of Braxton Hicks Contractions. Here is a quote from social science action, “More than 70 million people died in famines during the 20th century.” Although the article notes the success, some countries are having eradicating mass mortality food crises. It also points out that parts of the world, namely sub-Saharan Africa, have become endemic since the late 1960’s.

We all know of the most recent plan-demic. As reported, this bio engineered power grab, with particularly deadly results in the elderly and immuno compromised population, brought the economy of the world to a screeching halt. Still, what is the data since 1948? i went to PubMed for the following: “The last 40 years has been no exception, as the world witnessed the emergence and reemergence of viral outbreaks, of which Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in 1981, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in 2002, H1N1 influenza virus in 2009, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in 2012, Ebola virus in 2013 and the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) in 2019-present, are noteworthy.” This and the prediction of more severe diseases to come, just ask the WEF, or Bill Gates.

The one that gets the most press is earthquakes and although for a long time they tried to deflect the truth, one could always find the data that showed an uptick in earthquakes; both frequency and magnitude. Here is a statement from USGS.gov “In the past 40-50 years, our records show that we have exceeded the long-term average number of major earthquakes about a dozen times. The year with the largest total was 2010, with 23 major earthquakes (greater than or equal to magnitude 7.0).” What about 2023? “In the span of 12 months in 2023, a staggering 15,600 earthquakes were detected. Among these, 19 seismic events reached a significant magnitude of 7.0 or higher, 128 between magnitudes 6.0 and 6.9, and 1,637 registered magnitudes between 5.0 and 5.9.” (Data collected by Quantectum).

Although, there is without a doubt an uptick in both magnitude and frequency of earthquakes, disease, and famines, these things should not bring fear or worry. No, on the contrary, Yahoshua said, “See that you are not troubled.” These things must take place, what they should do for us as believers is get our attention. His return is a certainty, and it draws increasingly closer. So now is the time to Workout Your Salvation with Fear and Trembling! Or ask the question, “What must I do to be saved?”

Are we in the birth pains? It sure does feel like it!

Jude (Part 1)

Jude (Part 1)

Let me start here: if you have not read Jude (an introduction), stop now and go read it . . . it will make more sense that way. However, as a reminder to those who did read it let me refresh your memory. Jude is one of four brothers of Jesus and at some point led the Church in Jerusalem. He came to faith after Jesus’ resurrection. This same Jude then pens this letter and it is powerful! As a call to repentance, as a reminder of judgment, and as a warning to stay alert as we contend for the faith.

He doesn’t waste time with small talk, antidotes, or gibber, he is very matter-of-fact. In the verses, we will look at this week, we will see his heart, and his understanding as the brother of Jesus and leader of the Church. Let’s look at verse 5, “Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe.” Here is an interesting point, there are a couple manuscripts out there as well as a few versions of the Bible that use “Jesus” in place of “the Lord”. Could these early manuscripts be more accurate to Jude’s point? i think so. Jude had come to an understanding of who Jesus was and was not ashamed of it.

We love grace, i love grace. We preach grace, i preach grace, and it is glorious! However, we mustn’t lose sight of Jesus. Jesus, actively a part of the Old Testament, who is the same yesterday, today and forever, saves us by His cross. He leads us free from the chains of sin, out of bondage and into freedom. As the Israelites out of Egypt and still, subsequently (lit. the second time) He destroys those who did not believe. Folks, there is judgment. There is a hell and it has been preached since the formation of the Church. Do not be led astray. We must continue to contend for the faith in a world that would pervert the grace of God, even some in the Church.

Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that [e]the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, [f]subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after [g]strange flesh, are exhibited as an [h]example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire. (NASB)

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved[c] a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire,[d] serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. (ESV)

Pray with me for insight, for understanding, for fresh revelation into God’s Word. Let the Spirit of God speak to our hearts through these words written by Jude inspired by the Spirit. May we grow in wisdom and faith, as we seek to walk humbly with Jesus, contending for the faith. Until next week . . .

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord!

The shortest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 117, it is just two verses. Yet these two verses are immensely profound in their simplicity. You want to boil things down to the minimum and just look at the core of human existence? Then here you go:

“Praise the Lord, all you nations! Worship Him, all you peoples! Because God’s faithful love towards us is strong, the Lord’s faithfulness lasts forever! Praise the Lord!”

It doesn’t get much simpler than this, Praise the Lord. Worship Him. Because, He is faithful. His love is strong towards us and He is forever faithful. Thus, we should, Praise the Lord! No matter what you are facing, no matter what difficulties or trials befall you, Praise the Lord! In the good and in the bad, Praise the Lord! In the sun and in the rain, Praise the Lord! In life and in death, Praise the Lord! In sickness and in health, Praise the Lord! In the hardest of times and in the best of times, Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord,

The World in Tumult

The World in Tumult

It seems the world has gone mad! i read something today that said there has been a terrorist attack somewhere in the world every 10 days so far this year.  Even with social media putting it in our faces more, the 24 hour news availability…this isn’t something one can just shake off as having “always been like this”.  Racial tension in America is on the rise, fanned by the main stream media and social media. We can choose to be blind, willfully ignorant, or just plain skeptical of its actuality…however, that doesn’t dismiss the fact that many people see it and it is being pushed in our faces.

There is a passage in Matthew, in Chapter 24; where Jesus, foretells the future. In Verse 6 it says, “And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately.” The whole chapter is full of warnings of great trials. In fact the only positive thing about it is that in there somewhere, Jesus returns.  It talks about persecution and of a deception so great that even the elect, if possible, will be deceived.

What hope is there, what joy, what blessing? Here is part of the point; our hope, our joy, our blessing isn’t of this world or this age…it is yet to come fully. What we have now is the Spirit within us the Kingdom Come in Power within us that stays our hearts in times of trouble.  Whether or not you believe the end is near or not, one cannot deny the world is a tumultuous place.  That there is unrest in the Nations…here is where i find my hope:

“Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those that weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!”    Romans 12:9-16
